When I sit down to start a new piece, I light a candle and burn some incense. I put on my headphones and play some music. On days when I struggle to find \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW242122827 BCX8\"\u003emy creative groove, I take a few deep breaths. My mum’s dad (Pop) told me that because he was a part of the stolen generation, he \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW161758696 BCX8\"\u003edidn't\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW161758696 BCX8\"\u003e have any cultural exposure and learnings. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan class=\"NormalTextRun ContextualSpellingAndGrammarErrorV2Themed SCXW161758696 BCX8\"\u003ethis\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW161758696 BCX8\"\u003e is why he \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW161758696 BCX8\"\u003edidn't\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW161758696 BCX8\"\u003e really paint\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan class=\"NormalTextRun ContextualSpellingAndGrammarErrorV2Themed SCXW161758696 BCX8\"\u003e he\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW161758696 BCX8\"\u003e only drew pictures of the landscape because he was taken into the \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan class=\"NormalTextRun ContextualSpellingAndGrammarErrorV2Themed SCXW161758696 BCX8\"\u003eMoore river\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW161758696 BCX8\"\u003e mission at \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW161758696 BCX8\"\u003ea young age\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW161758696 BCX8\"\u003e but he always would tell me to always follow my heart when I paint.
