Catalogue Terracotta Warriors - Legacy of the First Emperor
The exhibition catalogue Terracotta Warriors: Legacy of the First Emperor features high resolution images of objects featured in the exhibition, as well as four essays by subject experts covering related topics. The publication is bilingual (English and Chinese).
The Terracotta Warriors were created to protect China’s first emperor, Qin Shihuang, in the afterlife and reflect the grandeur and power of the real Qin military. The army was found in three great pits 1.5 km east of Qin Shihuang’s main tomb and was strategically positioned east to defend against the lands Qin had conquered. Today, this extraordinary site remains one of the most significant archaeological discoveries in history and is recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
